What is Batanai?
Batanai was begun by people with HIV/Aids for mutual support. It started in Masvingo, Zimbabwe in 1992 with 7 members, women and men infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. The group has grown over the years with as many as 40 members at any one time. Batanai has helped many other groups to form and is now the centre of a network of over 40 groups throughout Masvingo province. They have inspired the formation of more than 100 similar groups throughout Zimbabwe. Members were active in the forming of the Zimbabwe National Network of Positive People . Batanai seeks to promote the human rights of people living with HIV. It hopes for an end to prejudice and discrimination against people with HIV/Aids. Batanai is owned by members. Activities and Programmes are supervised by the Executive Committee which in turn is guided by the Annual General Meeting. The Secretariat is supervised by the Executive Committee Activities and Objectives |
