Events: SEMEA develops regular events with artists as part of our capacity building programme. Most of these events raise money for other charities working in Africa. Our aims are to support intercultural arts events and training and exchange with Southern artists.
Oct 17 2007 Poverty Requiem by Peter Maissan. This was a spectacular England premiere in support of GCAP (The Global Campaign for Action against Poverty. 15 October 2007 at St John's Church, Ranmoor Park Road for whom we are most grateful. The official premiere was held at theSheffield Winter Gardens on 17 October with support from Sheffield City.We are really grateful to Greystones Primary and Dobcroft Junior schools for participating andour amazing soloists Zoe Jeffryes, Janet Wood with percussionists Jon Weaver, Alan baker and Adam Chevarty. More than 41 million people stood up against poverty on that special day entering the event in the Guiness book of records. Download some video clips from our database. The largest is about 69Mb and will take up to 25 minutes or more to download on a slow cable modem. There are two videos taken at St John's Church ranmoor and one at the Winter Gardens. you will need the free Apple QuickTime plug in to view these videos.
